I watched RuPaul’s Drag Race and was inspired to use my painting skills to express myself through makeup. In that moment I was accepted, welcomed, and cared for by the incredible LGBTQ+ community. The same year that I moved to the United States, I attended my first Pride Parade. I wasn’t surrounded or introduced to the LGBTQ community until I moved to the United States in 2015. Growing up in Mexico, I would always express myself through painting. A place where I can express who I really am, without judgement. My favorite part about working at Snooze is that I know it’s a safe space where I can work and be myself. If I could share some words of encouragement to young people in the LGBTQ community, it would be to embrace your uniqueness.Īs I continue to navigate my own journey, I hope that my story can bring inspiration to people in the LGBTQ+ community who may be struggling to find their voice and their place in the world – just know that you’re not alone. I felt so much support from the TikTok community knowing that there were people out there going through the same thing as me. I came out when I was 30 years old, after being in a 10-year Hetero marriage.Since my divorce, I changed career paths and moved to Denver for a fresh start in my life. June is Pride month, and I’m celebrating as someone who is new to the LGBTQ+ community. I feel lucky to work with such an amazing group of people. My favorite thing about working here is the overall atmosphere. I’ve been working at Snooze Ballpark for over 9 months after moving from Florida to Denver, Colorado.
